Queen Charlotte Track Itinerary

Most people walk the Queen Charlotte Track in  four days from Ship Cove to Anakiwa.  Here is a detailed guide to each day on the track – but remember, you can choose to walk just parts of the track or spend an extra night at any main point along the way!

The Queen Charlotte Track, situated in the Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island of New Zealand, is truly a walk in the footsteps of history.

Beginning at Ship Cove (where English explorer Captain James Cook made his NZ base), the Queen Charlotte Track winds its way over 71km. Passing through lush coastal native bush, around pristine bays & along skyline ridges with unsurpassed views, marvels abound throughout this Marlborough Sounds walk.

Not least of these attractions are the comfortable accommodation places that have developed conveniently for walkers just a day’s journey apart. At all times keep to the track and, if in doubt, ensure you follow the green and yellow Department of Conservation signs and markers.
